          Carl M. DeNunzio, Jr., age 89 of Conneaut, died unexpectedly Friday, December 8, 2017 at UH Conneaut Medical Center surrounded by his family.

          Carl was born February 25, 1928 in Conneaut, the son of Carlo Sr. and Theresa (Massiello) DeNunzio.  He was a 1947 graduate of Conneaut High School then worked at General Electric for a short time before entering the United States Army.  Carl was honorably discharged in 1947 after serving in World War II.  He returned to Conneaut where he became a life-long resident and worked for himself in the construction field.

          Carl built over 30 homes in the area, many garages, additions and was instrumental in the building of St. Frances Cabrini Church.  He was a gifted carpenter and could fix anything.  Carl built an Orchestrion made up of many different instruments, built a reproducing player piano and rebuilt a grand piano.

          Carl was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and the V.F.W.  He enjoyed gardening, canning, making spaghetti sauce every Sunday, and spending time with family and friends.  Throughout his life Carl was always willing to help anyone, especially with projects he could lend his expertise to.

          He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Jennie Belnap, Mary Tallmadge, Esther Sandella, and one brother, Emil DeNunzio.

          Carl is survived by two sisters, Helen Hollister of Erie, PA, and Margaret “Midge” DeNunzio of Conneaut, OH, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and a cat Skeeter.

          The family would like to thank the 3rd floor nursing staff at UH Conneaut Medical Center for the compassionate care given to Carl.

          Private Funeral Services will be held at the family’s request.

          Carl will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 where the American Legion Honor Squad will conduct military services.

          Arrangements are being handled by the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
