Manuel A. "Manny" Philip age 87 of Conneaut died Monday, August 22, 2016 at Lake Point Rehab in Conneaut.

Manny was born on November 8, 1928 in Conneaut the son of Manuel and Elizabeth (Airdeli) Philip. He was a 1946 graduate of Conneaut High School. Manny enlisted in the United States Army in 1946 and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1948. He returned to Conneaut and worked for the Bessemer Railroad, Nickel Plate Railroad, Norfolk and Western and retired from the Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock Co.

He was a member of the Conneaut Moose Club, the American Legion Cowle Post 151, V.F.W. and the Conneaut Eagles. He was also a member of the North Kingsville Piper Club, where he flew Piper Cubs years ago.

Manny enjoyed roller skating, golfing, riding motorcycles and dancing. Manny especially loved Polish music and playing the harmonica and accordion for family gatherings and fun.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Albert Phillips, Eugene Phillips, Stephen J. Philip, Julius Philip, an infant brother and his granddaughter, Marilee Goelz.

Manny is survived by his son Joseph Philip and Theresa Hnida of Pierpont, daughters Debbie and John Goelz of Memphis, TN, Julie and John Florian of Hampstead, MD, Donna and Bob Goelz of Maggie Valley,

North Carolina, and 11 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Raisian Family Funeral, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut, where the American Legion Cowle Post 151 will conduct military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Cowle Post 151 Honor Squad.
