Thomas W. Naykki

          Thomas W. Naykki age 70 of Conneaut, died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home.

          Tom was born on February 15, 1946 in Conneaut the son of Veijo and Joan “Jan” DeMay Naykki.  He was a 1964 graduate of St. John High School.  He attended John Carroll University for two years.  Tom sailed on the Great Lakes and worked AB deck watch and as a deckhand.  He later retired from ESAB in quality control as a Metalogic Test Welder in 1999. 

          Tom was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and also a member of the American Legion Cowle Post 151.  He enjoyed Brittany Spaniels, bird hunting, fishing, being outdoors and traveling to the Allegheny Mountains. He also was a numismatic coin collector. 

          Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

          He is survived by his sister Susie and James Sherry of Conneaut, nieces Tarja and Charlie Cruz, Liisa Maenpaa, Sanni Maenpaa and nephew Eric Maepaa and Christy Ledlow.

          Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at St. Mary Church, 480 State St., Conneaut with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut.

          No calling hours will be observed.

          Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League.  Envelopes will be available at the church or Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut where arrangements are being handled.
