William “Bill” A. Gritzer, age 55 of Conneaut, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at UH Geauga Hospital.

Bill was born on December 27, 1960 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of Frank and Carolyn (Port) Gritzer. He was a 1979 graduate of Conneaut High School. During his school years he worked at El-Camp Lanes, Conneaut Shores Golf Course and Windy Hill. He went on to work at Eighmy Corporation in Conneaut and the City of Conneaut Public Works Department for several years. He was a care taker for St. Joseph Cemetery working alongside his father Frank and wife Rhonda. He worked a short time for the Advantage Scrap yard before his diabetes condition prohibited him from working anymore.

Bill enjoyed bowling, golfing and working on cars.  He could always be found at his father’s garage tinkering around with something. Bill was always willing to help anyone with anything.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Fred and Evelyn Port and paternal grandparents Frank and Mary Gritzer.

Bill is survived by his parents, Frank R. Gritzer and Carloyn Port Gritzer of Conneaut, his wife Rhonda (Anthony) Gritzer, whom he married Feb 27, 1982, of Conneaut, two daughters Nicole Gritzer of Ashtabula, Ashley Gritzer of Conneaut, a brother Richard “Rick" and Julie Gritzer of Conneaut, two sisters, C. Jane and John Szalai of Monroe, Suzanne “Penny” Andrews of Orlando, Fl, three grandchildren Dominick, D’Angelo and Devon and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours for Bill will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Amboy United Methodist Church, 550 West Main Rd, Conneaut with Rev. Betsy Schenk officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Rt. 20, N. Kingsville, Ohio.

Memorial contributions can be made to Bill’s family to assist with funeral costs.
