Cosmo M. Coccitto, age 90 of Conneaut, died Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Ashtabula County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

            Cosmo was born October 27, 1926 in Conneaut, the son of Cosmo and Mary Vadala Coccitto. Cosmo attended Conneaut High School and worked at the Nickel Plate Railroad to help support his family. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1946.

            Cosmo returned to Conneaut and became the owner/operator of Cozy Service Station on the Corner of Broad & 16th St. He later retired from his trucking company, Subway Coal at the age of 62.

            Cosmo was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and attended Mass at St. Mary Church. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus #627 and attended the Conneaut Human Resource Senior Center every day to visit with his many friends. Cosmo enjoyed working on cars for many years and was an avid roller skater and bowler in his younger days. He also loved going to the auction house and having his own garage sales.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mariann (Cicon) Coccitto in 1961, second wife Vera M. (Salsbury) Coccitto in 2006, two sons David Coccitto at birth and Donald Coccitto, brothers Michael Coccitto, Paul Coccitto, Albert Coccitto, sister Violet Belnap and half-brother Tony Marsch.

            Cosmo is survived by sons Cosmo M. and (Nancy) Coccitto, Jr, of Brookfield, OH, Gary Coccitto of Conneaut, two grandchildren Jennifer (Christopher) Webb and Christopher (An) Coccitto and great grandson Alexander Coccitto, also Janice Williams and several nieces and nephews.

            Calling hours will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St, Conneaut.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 480 State St, Conneaut with Fr. Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut, where the American Legion Honor Squad will conduct Military Honors.

            Memorial contributions can be made to the Conneaut Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
