Edward "Ed" Taylor Obituary

Edward G. Taylor, age 87, died on July 19, 2019, under Hospice care in Conneaut OH.  He was born on September 16, 1931 at his childhood home in Conneaut, the son of Fay and Mary (Mackey) Taylor. A lifelong Conneaut resident, Ed attended Rowe High School and then went on to serve for the U.S. Army during the Korean War in Germany.  Ed returned home on the Queen Mary in November 1953 and married Lenore Muchiarone in 1955.  They were married 45 years before she passed away in October 1999.  He worked as a commercial fisherman and then at General Electric, Conneaut Base Plant where he retired after 20 years, in 1993.

Ed was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 151, Conneaut.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his ATV.  He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavs.  His best friend was his dog Bo.  He checked out the lake (Lake Erie) every day.  His many fishing trips were with his son Eddie and grandson Cory on the Taylormaid and on the Flying Duck with brother-in-law Dr. “Duke” Anthony, along with his wife Eleanor “Gin” and their son Dr. “Donnie” Anthony.  He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather following all his family’s activities and sporting events.  He loved his childhood homestead at Turkey Creek and hiked there during the years with his brother Bill Taylor where they shot their guns.  He was proud that he was a marksman in the service.  He liked to tinker with old cars and listen to country music.  He enjoyed traveling to area casinos with his friend Nancy Ebersole, and neighbors George and the late Dot Hlifka.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lenore and brothers Richard Taylor, William Taylor, and Glen Taylor.

Survivors include his five sons, Eddie (Michelle) Taylor of Conneaut, Michael Taylor of Conneaut, Jimmy (Brenda Romig) Taylor of Espyville PA, Joseph (Maureen) Taylor of Westerville OH, and Kenny (Margaret Hatton) Taylor of Middletown OH; one daughter, Mary Ruth (Dave) Holdson of Conneaut; his grandchildren, Michele (Bobby) Nelson, Maria (Cody) Thompson, Christie (Aaron) Joslin, Cory Taylor, Nicole (Joe Brennan) Taylor, Adam (Alissa) Holdson, April (Nick) Howitt,  Ryan Taylor, Greg (Caitlin) Taylor, Kelsey Taylor, Anthony Taylor, Alyssa Taylor; his great grandchildren, RJ Nelson, Brenna Nelson, Brody Nelson, Jack Joslin and Smith Joslin; and his twin sister Eleanor “Gin” (Dr. Donald) Anthony.
