Jean A. Capela

Jean A. Capela age 99 died peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Villa at the Lake, where she had been a resident since August 2018.

          She was born in Conneaut, Ohio on August 14, 1919 and was the last living child of ten born to Joseph and Louise (Brooks) Capela.  She resided in the Conneaut/North Kingsville area her entire life and was a 1937 graduate of Rowe High School.  Jean worked for the A & P Grocery Store as head cashier in downtown Conneaut for many years until her retirement in 1979. 

          Jean loved music, shopping, crossword puzzles, and her family.  In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling, bowling, and dancing.  She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.  Jean loved and cared deeply for her family and enjoyed reminiscing about the “good times” with them.  She was always the first one to step in and care for family members in need.  Jean loved to bake for family and friends, she was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

          Jean was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond (Bruna) Capela, Rolland “Bob” (Eleanor) Capela, Dutch (Jean) Capela, Merle (Minnie) Capela, William “Bill” (Mary) Capela and Richard “Dick” Capela, sisters Florence Capela, Roseann “Honey” Capela and MaryLou “Dolly” (Paul) Saturday, nephews Jeff Capela and Michael “Mickey” Capela.

She is survived by sister-in-law Martha Capela of North Kingsville, niece, godchild and caregiver Michelle Saturday (Patrick) Williams of Conneaut, nieces Linda (Don) Braunstien of Cary, NC, Kathy (Ron) DiDonato of North Kingsville, Karen (Dave) Nelson of Perry, Mitzi Capela of Conneaut, Jan (Gene) Mohler of Geneva, Cheryl Capela of Conneaut, Becky Saturday (Jim) Packer of Liberty Hill, TX, nephew Ray (Caroline) Capela of Cary, NC as well as niece-in-law Darlene Capela of  Conneaut, niece-in-law Jan Capela of Garden Grove, CA and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut. 

Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the funeral home with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating. 

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
