John Edward Picard, “Ed” age 75 of Conneaut died Sunday, April 7, 2019 following a short illness.
Ed was born April 12, 1943 in Sharon, PA., the son of Paul and Eleanor (Haines) Picard. Ed attended St. Mary Grade School, St. John High School and graduated from Conneaut High School, Class of 1961. He went on to attain a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Gannon University in 1965, and worked briefly in Washington, D.C.
He returned to Conneaut and eventually became the owner/operator of Picard’s Service on Mill Street for many years. Ed later went to work for the Conneaut Telephone Company and retired as a Supervisor after 26 years of service there.
Ed was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, and a former member of the Conneaut Elks Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and hunting. He was an avid golfer, and a “long-suffering” Cleveland sports fan.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn A. (Walker) Picard of Conneaut, a daughter, Stacey Picard and her husband, Mark Maus of Arlington, VA., son, Joseph Picard of Conneaut, twin brother Tom, and his wife Karen Picard of Conneaut and niece Renae Picard and nephew Jason Picard of Conneaut.
Memorial contributions can be made in Ed’s memory to the Conneaut Food Pantry or the Conneaut Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St. Conneaut.
Burial of Ed’s ashes will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
