Rodney L. Young

           Rodney L. Young, age 69 of Conneaut, died Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Austinburg Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

          Rodney was born in Conneaut on December 21, 1948, the son of Robert and Ruth (Nelson) Young.  He was a 1967 graduate of Conneaut High School.

          Rodney worked for PNS Maintenance Company and was a welder for General Electric for 10 years.  Rodney was a Volunteer Firefighter for Station 3 Rescue Squad for 10 years.

          Rodney was member of Corpus Christi Parish and attended catholic services at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Home.  He very active in his community and took a leadership role in anything he did.  He was a C.L.Y.O. coach for softball, soccer and baseball, drove the Conneaut High School band music truck for events and played drums in his wedding band.  He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed computers, painting and playing Nintendo with his grandkids.  Family was very important to Rodney.

          He was preceded in death by his parents.

          Rodney is survived by his wife, Mary (Cebasek) Young whom he married June 13, 1970, son Gary (LeeAnn) Young of Conneaut, two daughters Michelle Weber of Conneaut and Molly (Michael) Buchanan of Willowick, and six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isabella, Alexander, Xavier, Heidi and Toby.

          Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at St. Joseph Cemetery, 369 West Main Rd, Conneaut with Fr. Brian Van Fossen officiating. Following burial, a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at Corpus Christi Parish Center, Mill Street, Conneaut.

          Memorial contributions in Rodney’s memory can be made to the C.L.Y.O. Program or to the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St, Conneaut, Ohio 44030, where arrangements are being handled.
