Claudia Paneto, age 82 of Conneaut, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.
Claudia was born February 18, 1939 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Juan Pantaleon Rosado and Gabriella Hernandez. Claudia came to the United States with her late husband Felix G. Paneto whom she married November 10, 1956.
Claudia worked and raised her family in Conneaut for most of her life. She worked at the former Astatic Corporation, Transplastics Corporation and Pape’s Restaurant. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and loved to have family and friends over for her coffee. Claudia was known for her Hispanic cooking and her world-famous rice dishes. She once cooked rice for Dr. Sam Niemi and the entire hospital staff. She loved to garden and raise flowers. Claudia also liked to sew and do needle point.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Felix G Paneto in 2008.
Claudia is survived by four sons, Tony (Jess) Paneto of Conneaut, Bill Paneto of Conneaut, Ed (Becky) Paneto of Ashtabula, Fred Paneto of Conneaut, four daughters, Tita (George) Wright of N. Kingsville, Nivia (Mike) Simmons of Conneaut, Teresa Pape of Conneaut, Aida Paneto of West Springfield, PA, an adopted daughter Yolanda (Eugene) Lozada, 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, along with many sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 10:00 am until 12:30 p.m. at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mil Street with Fr. Philip Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.
Memorial contributions can be made in Claudia’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Adoration Hospice Care Ohio, 2302 Metcalf Drive, Unit 24, Ashtabula, OH 44004.
