David J. Lake was born in Spangler, PA in 1934. He grew up in an orphanage and because of that, he had a genuine concern and admiration for all children; his whole life.
He graduated from Stevens Trade School as a Mechanic. Served in the US Army. Followed his sister to Ashtabula and was hired by Union Carbide-Linde Wire-L-Tec-ESAB; he became a Journeymen Maintenance Mechanic of 42 years.
He was married to wife Janet of 66 years. They bought a house in 1962 in Kingsville, OH. David loved his big garden and shared everything he grew with neighbors & friends. He was a baseball coach & later became commissioner of the Kingsville Little League in the 60's & 70's. David also served for the Kingsville Zoning Board and the Kingsville Presbyterian Church. He probably walked a thousand miles throughout the Golf Courses of greater Ashtabula County; he loved the game. In the winter, it was bowling and playing cards!
David enjoyed a good steak, friends that would stop by just to chat, fixing just about anything for anybody, birds, and presenting fresh cut flowers (from his garden) to wife Janet. (For many years he would raise pheasants and then release them in and around Kingsville.) David was often quick with a joke (even though they were the dumbest jokes anyone had ever heard!)
He loved his two sons; David Lake and Steven (Pam) Lake ... he loved his three grandchildren, Jeremy (Alexa), Anna, and Madison. David grew up in an orphanage with his sisters and brothers and (also) because of that, he was extremely attached to them; Michael, Mary, Andy, Angie, Joan, Betty, and Jimmy.
David passed away quietly in his home surrounded by his family, he was 89.
Services to be held on Saturday, April 27, 11:00 a.m. at the Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3056 E Main Street, Kingsville. Followed by Lulu Falls Cemetery Service, 5829 Cemetery Road, Kingsville.
