Donna L. Best

Donna L. Best age 85 passed away on June 28, 2022 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.

Donna was born on August 29, 1936 to Herbet Knowlton Askew and Laura E. Hewit Irish Askew in Geneva, Ohio.  Her mother and father passed away when she was young and she was raised in an orphanage in Quincey, PA until returning to Conneaut to live with her grandmother.  She married Robert Best in January 1954 and they had three very active kids.  She was a loving mom and grandmother and great grandmother, always active in their lives.  In the 1960’s she was co-owner with Robert of Best Market on the corner of Route 20 and Amboy Road.

She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and Catholic Daughters and volunteered for many fundraisers for the church.  Donna loved to dance with the Kilpi Hall Dancers, she also sponsored three foreign exchange students.  She was asked to make her lemon meringue and Italian cheese pie many times.  She made the best spaghetti sauce (for not being Italian) using her own canned tomatoes, there are so many wonderful memories.

Donna is survived by her husband Robert D. Best, son Robert J. Best, daughter Denise (David) Eagley, son Gene (Debby) Best, sister Sandra Askew Tessmer, grandchildren Robert Tredway, Mark, Stephanie, and Sean Best, step grandchildren, Chris, Nicholas, Eugene and Desiree Cottom, and many great grandchildren, she loved them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her half brothers Duane and Paul Irish, half sisters Pat Irish Boyce and Charlotte Askew Lockwood, and daughter-in-law Regina Best.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.

 Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mill Street, Conneaut, with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating. 

Funeral Mass will be LIVESTREAMED at 1:00 p.m. on the Raisian Family Funeral Home Facebook page for those who wish to view it.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, N. Kingsville, Ohio.
