Erma R. Castrilla, age 91 of Conneaut, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Jefferson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Erma was born on August 3, 1930, in Beaver Center, PA, the daughter of Charles and Ruby (Whitford) Eldridge. Erma was a 1948 graduate from Conneautville High School. Erma met and married the love of her life Felix A. (Phil) Castrilla on September 11, 1954, and is now reunited with him in heaven after 22 years apart.
Erma worked for many years at the former Astatic Corporation and the Conneaut Base Plant General Electric, but she would consider her role as a mother and grandmother as her greatest accomplishment. She was always on the go and constantly ensuring those around her were taken care of, well fed, and comfortable. She was a woman of great strength and quick wit who always made certain her home (and her hair) was immaculate. She lived every moment of her 91 years, but if you were lucky to know Erma, then you know that even forever spent with her would not be enough time. She was a loyal fan to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indians, Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
She will be missed deeply by her children, Chris (Sharon) Castrilla, Connie (Bob) Bruce, grandchildren Jessica (Joey) Malagisi, Kerri Mongenel, Chad Mongenel, Brandy (Jeremy) French, great grandchildren Alex Mongenel, Morgan and Dylan French, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Felix A. (Phil) Castilla, a brother Dale S. Eldridge and sister Jean Soltis.
Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
Funeral services will follow at Noon on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the funeral home, with Deacon Nicholas Iarocci officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.
Memorial contributions can be made in Erma’s memory to Maddox and Friends Cat Rescue, 723 Clark Street, Conneaut, Ohio 44030
