Fiory A. Bartone

          Fiory A. Bartone age 98 passed away on Tuesday evening, November 8, 2022 at his home.

          Fiory was born on May 11, 1924 in Conneaut, the son of Nicola and Carmela Taddeo Bartone.  He was a 1942 graduate of Conneaut High School.  He then went on to work as an apprentice at the Nickel Plate Railroad.  In 1942 he entered the United States Army.  Fiory was in the first wave that stormed Utah Beach on D-Day during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945 after proudly serving his country.  Fiory returned to Conneaut and worked as a car man for the Nickel Plate Railroad and retired in 1984 from the N & W Railroad as a car foreman. 

          Fiory was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, a life member of the American Legion Cowle Post 151 and the VFW.  In his younger years, he played semi-pro baseball for the Nickel Plate Baseball Team. 

          He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. 

          Fiory was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Patricia Joslin Bartone in 1987, second wife Lucille Walters Bartone in 2021, sisters Mary Temple, Dorothy Notarine, Alvera Bartone and Julia Mundy, brothers Anthony Bartone, Michael Bartone and an infant brother in Italy.

          He is survived by one son Robert and Gloria Bartone of Conneaut, grandchildren Christopher and Michelle Bartone of Conneaut, Kimberly and Thad Henson, Patrick Bartone all of Cleveland, Jocelyn and Zack Martz of Maryland, and four great grandchildren Charlotte and Lucy Bartone and Tyler and Kaylee Henson.

          At Fiory’s request, no visitation will be held. 

          Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut with Deacon Nicholas Iarocci officiating.  The American Legion Honor Squad will conduct military services, with burial to follow. 

          The Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut has been entrusted with his arrangements. 

          Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice of Maddox and Friends Cat Rescue, 723 Clark Street, Conneaut, Ohio 44030.
