Fredrick J. Ellerkamp, age 63 of Conneaut died Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by family.
He was born on September 19, 1956 in Ashtabula, Ohio the adopted son of Gustave and Betty (White) Ellerkamp. He attended Conneaut High School. Fred worked at several factories and was also a chef at Disney World.
Fred was a member of the Conneaut Eagles Club. Fred enjoyed fishing, gambling at casinos, sitting around the bonfire listening to the tribe, the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. His favorite movie was the Wizard of Oz and he enjoyed watching WeTV channel and was an avid animal lover. Fred had a great sense of humor and loved to tease people. He especially loved the time he spent with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Fred is survived by his wife Cathy (Wardrop) Ellerkamp whom he married March 6, 1976, daughter Anna and Craig Meyers of Pioneer, Ohio, three grandchildren Alexander Proper, Cohen Meyers and Cailyn Meyers, five brothers Joseph Balliet, Glen Balliet, David Herndon, Robert Downes and Ed Herndon, sisters Nancy Downes, Sylvia Downes, Suzanne Lott, Sheila Cusano, Suzette Clemens and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday with Deacon Nick Iarocci of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.
Fred’s family and friends are invited to the Conneaut Eagles Club following the services.
Memorial contribution can be made to the American Society for the Prevention to Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
