Howard A. Bernini, age 69, of Conneaut, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at his residence.
Howard was born in Geneva, Ohio on January 8, 1956, the son of Howard D. Bernini and Anna M. Hammond. As a young man Howard was in the boy scouts from 1967 to 1971. During that time, he received the Medal of Merit from the National Court of Honors for life saving efforts. He was a 1974 graduate from Conneaut High School and went to work at the former Norton’s Plastic Company in Conneaut. He then worked for Yates Company in Erie and later the Maxwell Wetmore Company until his disability kept him from working.
Howard was an avid outdoorsman and a wildlife conservationist. He was a founding member of the Friends of Conneaut Creek and the Creek Keepers. He loved fishing, camping, gardening and working on older cars. Years ago, he enjoyed coaching at CLYO football and was a very creative and artistic man.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents.
Howard is survived by his two children, Heather (Jeff) Lawlor of Madison, Kevin Bernini, Stewart, Fla., his special granddaughter Katelynn Lawlor, and brothers Dave Bernini, Barry Bernini both of Conneaut, Daniel Bernini of West Springfield and Brian Bernini of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
In keeping with Howard’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. The family is planning a memorial for a later date this summer.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Raisian Funeral Home.
