John G. Hatfield, age 58 of Ashtabula, died Wednesday evening, June 24, 2020 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
John was born April 3, 1962 in Richmond, Virginia the son of Ralph and Martha Rouse Hatfield both of Jefferson. He was a graduate of Harbor High School and later worked for Ashtabula Rubber, Grand River Rubber, Lowes and was currently employed with the Ashtabula Housing Authority.
John was a classic car enthusiast and backyard mechanic. He loved car shows and he was the motor fixer to many. He also built two cars. He enjoyed watching Nascar and was a big Earnhardt fan. John also liked to ride his 4-wheeler and Harley Davidson with his friends.
He is survived by his parents, two daughters, Kayla and Brian Darden of Bedford, Carli Hatfield Aul and Andrew Aul of North Carolina, two grandchildren Brielle and Brian, Jr. of Bedford, a sister Lena Hatfield of Jefferson, sisters Kathi Curtiss, Kara Marita Curtiss, brother Kevin Curtiss, his AFS daughter Fatima Brizuela of Paraguay, nieces and nephews Cathie Mathias, Adam Hatfield, Joseph Marita, Samantha Marita, Morgan Marita, Jessica Marita, Katherine Marita, Robert Curtiss, Tessa Nicholson, Alyanna Jennings, Christopher Curtiss, Justin Curtiss, Annaliisa Curtiss, Amanda Curtiss and his best friend Keith Curtiss, great nieces, great nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins along with his many car cruising friends.
With the current Covid-19 situation, the family will not be having any services. A celebration of John’s life will be planned for a later date.
