James M. Rockwell, Jr.

          James M. Rockwell, Jr. age 76 of Ashtabula passed away January 13, 2022 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.

          Jim was born on October 17, 1945 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of James and Elaine (Julio) Rockwell, Sr.  He was a 1963 graduate of St. John High School and went on to enlist in the United States Air Force and served his country proudly until he was honorably discharged. 

          Jim worked for many years at Reliance Electric, Rockwell Brake Plant and Conneaut General Electric Base Plant. 

          He enjoyed golfing and fishing.  He was also a ranger at Village Green Golf Course.  He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post 151, Conneaut Moose Lodge and Conneaut Eagles Club. 

          Jim especially loved the time he spent with his family, especially playing basketball and golfing with his grandchildren.

          Jim was preceded in death by father James Rockwell, Sr., his brother Harry Rockwell and his first wife Caroline “Sue” Rockwell.

          Jim is survived by his mother Elaine Rockwell of Conneaut, his wife Jeanne (Curtis) Rockwell of Ashtabula, two sons Trevor and Kim Rockwell of Kingsville and James III and Carrie Rockwell of Virginia, grandchildren Coby, Alec and Kayla Rockwell, sister Suzanne and James Pilcher of Conneaut and brother Joseph and Nancy Rockwell of Conneaut.

          The James Rockwell Memorial Golf Tournament will be held this summer at Village Green Golf Course to commemorate Jim’s and his life. The date will be announced by the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.

          Memorial contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to the Ashtabula County APL, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.  Envelopes are also available at the funeral home.
