James D. Woodworth, age 86, formerly of Conneaut, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Novant Huntersville Medical Center, in Huntersville, N.C.
Jim was born in Conneaut, the son of Lee and Ruth Stahle Woodworth. After he graduated from Conneaut High School in 1958, Jim worked at the A&P grocery store, later enlisting in the United States Navy in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963. His business career began at the former Conneaut Can Company and he was soon transferred to Florida where he worked for the VanDorn Company’s Davies/Tampa division. Several transfers throughout his 37 years in the container industry earned him respect with customers and peers.
As time passed, watching his family grow and become successful in their own rights was his greatest joy. When it came time to retire, what did he do? ...moved to Florida once again and went to work! As a host in The Villages sales office, he was fortunate to add many new, lasting friendships. For many years Jim served as a Eucharistic minister at various Catholic churches identifying his devotion to his Faith.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Roy Woodworth and Ray Woodworth, sister Geraldine Ward and nephew Lee Jennings.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Barbara J. (Forsty) Woodworth, whom he married October 27, 1962, at St. Frances Cabrini Church, sons James B. (Diane) Woodworth of Davidson, N.C., Benjamin Woodworth of Bloomfield, N.J., daughter Amy (Matthew) Brown of West Linn, Oregon, grandchildren Ian, Paige, Hunter, Beckett (Jennifer), Jake and Ben.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St, Conneaut.
Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. on Friday August 29, 2025, with Fr. Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.
