John E. Kapella

          John E. Kapella age 69 died Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his home.

          John was born on January 25, 1952 in Conneaut the son of John J. and Dorothy Gosche Kapella.  He was a 1970 graduate of Conneaut High School.

John worked at the former Conneaut Sugar Bowl as a cook and janitor, Steve Bartone’s Gas Station as an attendant and mechanic and later was the fuel desk manager at Bartone’s State Line Truck Stop for over 15 years. He also worked at Deck Vending.

          John was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and served as a Eucharistic Minister.  He enjoyed bowling on the Industrial League at El Camp Lanes and traveling.  John was an avid Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan. 

          John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Diane M. Kapella.

          He is survived by his sister, Susan Guest of Conneaut, nephew Robert Guest and a great niece and great nephew.

          Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.

          Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mill Street, Conneaut with Father Philip Miller officiating.

          Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.

          Due to COVID-19, Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home and church. 

          Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Parish Memorial Fund in John’s memory.
