John Vendetti Obituary

            John A. Vendetti age 89 of Conneaut died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

            John was born in Conneaut on November 8, 1931 the son of Carl and Angelina (Mucci) Vendetti, Sr.  He was a 1949 graduate of Conneaut High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in 1953.

            John was employed at the Conneaut Telephone Company for 45 years.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and served as an usher, worked at the Lenten fish dinners, and ran the board games at the annual Cabrini Church Festival with his children and grandchildren. He was also a member of the Conneaut Moose Lodge and the Ashtabula V.F.W. 

            He enjoyed playing cards and traveling to bowling tournaments with his brothers, playing bocce, yardwork and taking care of his home.  He was an and avid cartoonist for the Courier Newspaper years ago and also enjoyed oil painting.  

            John loved his family and going to his grandchildren’s school events and was known as the family videographer. He especially loved dancing and singing karaoke with his wife Rosemary.

            John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Rocco Vendetti and Carl Vendetti, Jr.

            He is survived by his loving wife Rosemary Wojtowicz Vendetti, whom he married February 13, 1954 at St. Mary Church, daughters Teresa and Jeff Pelow, Mary Frances and Dean Eddy, Joan and Randy Wolfe, Rosemary and Brock Steinbrook, a son John Vendetti, Jr. and Troy Licklider, brothers Anthony “Soot” Vendetti, Nicholas and Rita Vendetti, 11 grandchildren Melanie (Michael) Ballard, Katrina Pelow, Ian Pelow, Jason Eddy, Brian (Shannon) Eddy, Evan (Marleah) Wolfe, Emily Wolfe, Holden Shumate, Sebastian Shumate, Phenyx Steinbrook and Felix Stenbrook and two great grandchildren Cora and Rosclyn Eddy, and several nieces and nephews.

            Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.

            Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mill Street, Conneaut with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating. 

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut where the American Legion Honor Squad will conduct military honors.

            Masks and social distancing will be required at the visitation and church.

           John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of the Western Reserve for the care and compassion given and to John’s special caregiver, Ella Mayberry.
