Joseph Brennan Obituary

Joseph C. Brennan, age 69, of Conneaut, passed away on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Hillcrest Hospital Cleveland Clinic.

Joe was born on August 5, 1954, in Conneaut, the son of Charles “Chub” and June Goodenow Brennan.  He was a 1972 graduate of Conneaut High School and went to work at the former Morton Beer Distributors from 1976 until 2001. He later retired from Superior Beverage Group in January 2024 after 47 years of service to the industry.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Conneaut and one of its biggest fans and supporters. He was a former 3rd Ward Councilman and loved Conneaut and its people. He was not known as a handy man but was always willing to help anyone he could.  Joe was referred to by his friends as “Ace” and he would be at every football and basketball game on a Friday night. Joe was an avid Cleveland “Indians” fan, Browns, Cavs and the Ohio State Buckeye’s. He was a member of the former Schlitz Beer softball team, in the Conneaut slow-pitch.  Joe loved to golf at the former Conneaut Shores, ride his lawn mower and keep his yard beautiful. He could be found at the Moose in Conneaut with his friends socializing and discussing the politics of the day, He also enjoyed the weekend breakfast club with his close friends on Saturday and Sunday mornings for fellowship and solving the world’s problems.

Joe was preceded in death by his father Charles Brennan, sister Jean Carlo, and father-in-law James Pataky.

He is survived by his mother, June Brennan, his wife Jamie Pataky Brennan, whom he married August 17, 1985, at St. Mary Church, son Joey Brennan and fiancé Aubrey Husak of Chagrin Falls, daughter Maggie Brennan and fiancé Jon Chizmar of Toledo, grandchildren Lucy and Viola Chizmar, brothers John and Sandy Brennan of Conneaut, Mike and Michelle Brennan of Conneaut, sisters Janet and Jim Meade of Jefferson, Sue Goodwin of Conneaut, mother-in-law Laurine “Sis” Pataky, brothers-in-law and sisters-in laws William ‘Rocky” and Yuly Pataky of Azel, TX., Lisa and Nicholas Iarocci of Conneaut, and Jeffrey and Mary Pataky of Buffalo, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
