Joseph L. Robison, aged 68, of Ashtabula, passed away on August 2, 2023. Born on December 28, 1954, in Conneaut, he was the son of James W. and Janis Joslin Robison. Joe's legacy is one of perseverance, craftsmanship, and love for his family.
Joe graduated from Conneaut High School in 1974. He was employed with the Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Co before joining the Conneaut Telephone Company, where he worked for 29 years until his retirement. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Joe attended evening courses at the local technical college, using his skills to undertake home remodeling projects for family, friends, and community members.
A masterful woodworker, Joe crafted furniture, cabinetry, and other heartfelt gifts for his family, including his grandchildren, whom he adored. His mechanical aptitude was matched only by his attention to detail; he was known for finding solutions to problems large and small. This ingenuity revealed itself early on when he fabricated a motorized bike and surprised his mother with clever inventions as a child. Joe built his own home by hand at the age of 23, a testament to his resourcefulness and determination.
His interests extended beyond his workshop. During his youth, he was a member of the Sea Scouts and later found joy in golfing and bowling. He was also a loyal Cleveland Browns fan, became a lifetime member and trustee at the Conneaut Eagle's Club, and possessed an appreciation for historical architecture. A man of practicality, his unassuming sense of humor brought warmth to countless moments.
Joe shared a bond of profound devotion with his wife, Becky, during their 46 years of marriage. Together, they ventured to London and Paris and cherished family camping trips at Clear Creek State Park in Pennsylvania. Joe was preceded in death by his father, James W. Robison, in 2002, brother James F. Robison in 2022, aunt Betty Robison, and uncle Patrick Robison.
Left to honor his memory are his mother, Janis Joslin Robison of Conneaut; his wife, Becky Robison; son Chad Robison and partner Jess Telmanik of Ashtabula; daughter Melanie and James Tamulewicz of North Canton; grandchildren Elle Tamulewicz and Ash Tamulewicz; sisters Julia Notte and Jennifer Robison; sister-in-law Susan Robison; brothers John (Eileen) Robison and Jerome (Natalie) Robison; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held with the arrangements entrusted to the Raisian Funeral Home at 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the Carpentry Program at A-Tech in memory of Joseph Robison.
