Karen M. Nelson

Karen M. Nelson age 54 died Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Tripoint Medical Center.

Karen was born in Ashtabula on November 18, 1966 the daughter of Richard and Martha (Goring) Capela.  She was a 1985 graduate of Conneaut High School.  She worked for many years with Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood Home and Broadmoore School in Mentor working with autistic children.  She was recently employed with Biolife as a Phlebotomist. 

Karen enjoyed playing pool and playing the piano.  She especially loved the time she spent with her family and friends and her brown dog “Carbine”.

Karen was preceded in death by her father Richard Capela.

She is survived by her mother Martha Capela of N. Kingsville, husband David M. Nelson of Perry, son Paul Simmons of Perry, daughter Nichole Simmons of Perry, sister Kathy and Ron DiDonato of N. Kingsville and three nephews Vincent DiDonato, Tony DiDonato and Ron DiDonato.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the funeral home with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Route 20, N. Kingsville, Ohio.

Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home and cemetery.
