Mark R. Laitinen

Mark R. Laitinen, age 68 of Conneaut, died at his residence November 30, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Mark was born on August 8, 1954, in Conneaut, the son of Eugene and Jean Laitinen. He was a 1972 graduate of Conneaut High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Kent State University. Mark worked for 20 years at Premix in the Engineering Department and 10 years at MFG in Linesville, PA and has been retired for the past 7 years.

Mark enjoyed golfing in the Premix league and playing poker with his friends. He had a passion for music and loved listening to the Grateful Dead, going to music concerts twice a year. 

He was well known for his academic skills and for being just plain smart.  You could always see him in his tie-dyed shirts and was responsible for “tie dye Friday” at Premix.  Mark especially loved the time he spent with his family and granddaughter.  He was always very giving and selfless towards others.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents. 

He is survived by his wife Sandra Scott Laitinen, whom he married August 31, 1987, daughter Lisa and Jeremie Buehner of Conneaut, son Scott Laitinen of Conneaut, granddaughter Vanessa Buehner, sister Karen Ryan, Aunt Betty Laitinen, and several cousins.

At Mark’s request no services will be held. 

The family would like to thank UH Hospitals and Staff and the nurses with Hospice of the Western Reserve for their care and compassion for Mark during his illness. 

The Raisian Family Funeral has been entrusted with arrangements.
