Obituary

Mary Lou Ciccone, age 84 of Conneaut, passed away January 19, 2023, at Lake Pointe Rehabilitation Center.

Mary Lou was born in Ashtabula on December 5, 1938, the daughter of Cosmo (Sam) and Carmel (DiMare) Izzi.  She was a 1956 graduate of Ashtabula High School.  She lived most of her life in Conneaut.  Mary Lou went to cosmetology school in Cleveland and was self employed at Francine’s Beauty Salon until she married her late husband, Anthony “Chic” Ciccone, on April 11, 1959.  Mary Lou was self-employed at her own beauty shop in her home until 1965.  She then went to work for the Conneaut Area Schools as a paraprofessional for over 25 years until her retirement in 1999.

Mary Lou was a member of Corpus Christi Parish.  She was known for her sense of humor and enjoyed cooking for her family.  Family was most important to Mary Lou and she immensely loved her family, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and their many friends. 

Mary Lou was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She found great enjoyment and pride working in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Ciccone in 2020.

Mary Lou and her late-husband, Chic, were a big part of their grandchildren’s lives.  When the grandchildren were younger, Mary Lou and Chic often entertained and played with the children at their home and many times brought them to their favorite restaurants and to numerous amusement parks. 

Mary Lou is survived by daughters Regina (Reg) Cafone, husband Mark Cafone of Conneaut, and Tess Kelly, husband Mike Kelly of Ashtabula; grandchildren Stephanie Belcher, husband Will Belcher of Conneaut, Teryl Luce of Ashtabula, Eric Schreiber of Willowick, and Sydney Curry, husband Joe Curry of Ashtabula; great-grandchildren Cadence Pauley, and Caprice Belcher; step-grandchildren Krystal Kelly (Robert Snyder), Kandice Kelly, Michael Kelly II (Rashelle Caudill), Tauri Kelly (Zach Strack); step-great grandchildren Oliver Curry, Khloe West, Kylie West, Elouise Kelly, and Ameila Strack.  She is also survived by nieces Carrie Iarocci, and Roseanne Heath; nephews Jeff Petrunger and Nick Iarocci.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister, Beatrice Petrunger, and her niece, Lisa Iarocci.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Contributions in Mary Lou’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will also be available at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut where arrangements have been entrusted.
