Raimondi (Ron) Tate Obituary

Raimondi (Ron) J. Tate, 75, of North Kingsville passed away on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 following a two-year bout with cancer. He was born Dec. 6, 1946 in McKeesport, PA to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Tate, who preceded him in death.

Ron earned his bachelor’s and master's degrees from Edinboro University and pursued a career as a math instructor with Conneaut Area City Schools for more than 30 years. He was a well-regarded teacher who was recognized by his peers for excellence in education. Ron advocated for his profession in local, county and state associations as a longtime union leader and as a trustee of the Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County.

Following his retirement, he spent six years as an advisor to advance economic and workforce development in the county. In addition to his career, Ron was a committed community servant. He was appointed to the Ashtabula County Board of Developmental Disabilities, on which he served as president for a decade, and sat on various local boards.

Ron is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margaret Tate. He also leaves behind children Barbara Tate of New York, NY, Paul (Stephanie) Tate of Downers Grove, IL, and Constance (Michael) Magnuson of Columbus, OH; brother Nicholas Tate of McKeesport, PA; and four grandchildren, Nolan, Elliott and Julia Tate, and Avery Magnuson.

Ron was incredibly proud of his children, who inherited his quick wit and love of cooking. His family will cherish memories of many vacations spent together in Hilton Head Island, SC and of cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams and University of Dayton basketball.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron’s memory to support the Kingsville Public Library, as he was an avid reader of mystery novels and political nonfiction.

For everyone’s health and safety amidst COVID-19, the family will have a private service on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022 at Raisian Family Funeral Home followed by burial at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Fr. Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish will officiate.
