Rick P. Sturgill, age 75 of Cranesville, passed away on July 13, 2025, at UPMC Hamot, in Erie, Pa.
Rick was born on August 25, 1949, in War, West Virginia, the son of John and Dexter Addair Sturgill. He attended Jefferson High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged. He received the Award of Air Medal while serving aboard the Assault Helicopter Specialist Four 48th Aviation Company.
Rick worked for a short time in the coal mines and later for Head Start program in Ashtabula. He also led a homeless mission that later became the Gospel Assemblies Church of God of which he became the Pastor.
Rick loved to go fishing at the “bubble” in Ashtabula and the Conneaut break wall. He enjoyed dirt track racing at Raceway 7 every Friday and Saturday night. His # 3 car ran in semi late and super Late model years ago. Rick also enjoyed his coffee, tinkering in his garage, yardwork, gardening and watching football.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son David Sturgill in 1998.
Rick is survived by his wife, Nancy (Hurlburt) Sturgill, a son Daniel (Leanne) Sturgill, daughters Jeanette Sturgill, Stephanie Sturgill, Tina (Jeremy) Bissett, Lori (Mike) Lawver, brothers Carlos Sturgill, Star Sturgill and Daryl Sturgill, sisters Ann Kapferer, Rita Roberts, June Sturgill, Ruth Sturgill, Jane Sturgill and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Conneaut Church of God, 5327 Center Road, Conneaut.
Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Carson Robson officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
