Robert J. Zimmerman, Jr., age 75 of Conneaut, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Pymatuning Lake where he had been fishing.
Bob was born on February 11, 1948, in Florence, South Carolina, the son of Dr. Robert J. and Jean Mozart Zimmerman, Sr. Bob was a 1966 graduate of Conneaut High School. He worked for a brief time at Conneaut General Electric Base Plant and was hired as a patrolman in 1973 by the City of Conneaut. Bob worked his way up the ranks in the Police department, he became a Sergeant in 1988 and later Lieutenant in 1996 with a dedicated interest in narcotics investigations. Bob retired on December 31, 2010, following 37 years of service to the City of Conneaut. Bob was currently working with the City of Ashtabula Municipal Court as a Bailiff.
Bob loved to fish and enjoyed doing that throughout his whole life. He liked being outdoors, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marc Zimmerman, sister Suzanne Plasman, and grandson Tyler Aiken.
He is survived by four daughters, Carrie (Kevin) Aiken of Madison, Emily (Ted) Root of Conneaut, Lauren Zimmerman, and LeAnn Zimmerman both of Conneaut, granddaughter Madison Aiken, sister Jean Ann Zimmerman of Colorado along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St, Conneaut.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the Raisian Funeral Home, with Pastor Rob Utley of the Kelloggsville Church of Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory can be made to the Conneaut F.O.P or the APL of Ashtabula County.
