Robert "Bob" Warren Obituary

Robert “Bob” J. Warren, age 87 of Conneaut, OH died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

Bob was born May 14, 1931 in Conneaut, the son of Glenn and Ezma (Hunter) Warren.  He was a 1949 graduate of Conneaut High School and went on to work as a pressman at Lake City Malleable Inc., before entering the service.

He joined the United States Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War.  During his service career, he was stationed at Camp McCoy, WI., Camp Breckenridge, KY., Camp Polk, LA., Camp Irwin, CA., Camp Kilmer, N.J., and Augsburg, Germany.  Bob also attended the school for medics at Ft. Sam Huston, TX.  While Bob was serving with the 137th Tank Battalion at Camp Irwin, CA., he was commended for saving the lives of 16 men overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning.  Bob received a letter of commendation for his heroic actions.  He was honorably discharged in 1962 as 1st Sgt., and joined the Ohio National Guard, stationed in Ashtabula, where he served for another 12 years.

Bob worked at NKP as a telephone operator, owned and operated Warren Dairy and worked at the Conneaut Waste Water Plant for 26 years, until his retirement.  He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Cowle Post 151, and a lifetime member of the Conneaut Optimist Club where he served as a 4-time President and 3-time Lt. Governor.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, where he was very active in helping with the past Cabrini Festivals.  He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians fan and enjoyed watching all other sports.  In his younger days he enjoyed watching any of his grandkids sporting events, caring for his flowers and yard, putting together jig-saw puzzles and doing word search books.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his friends and especially his beloved family.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.  They brought an instant smile to his face as he did to theirs.  He could make them a toy out of anything he found in the house.  He was a kid at heart.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James and Wallace, and sister Kathleen Frigic.

He is survived by the love of his life, Shirley (Julio) Warren, whom he married June 26, 1954.  Also surviving is a daughter Rhonda (Richard) Sears of Conneaut, two brothers Albert (Linda)Warren  and Philip Warren, four grandchildren, Leandra, Robert and Alex Sears, and Lisa Glaus, 4 great-grandchildren, Serenity, Zola, Cincere, Ethan, and one more on the way, brother-in-law Tony (Norma) Julio, sister-in-law Theresa DeMarco, and numerous nieces and nephews.
