Caroline Kananen, age 99 of Conneaut, died January 12, 2014, just 27 days short of her 100th birthday.
Caroline was born on February 8, 1914, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Kay and Versa (Webster) Metcalf. She was a resident of Conneaut her entire life.
She graduated from Conneaut High School and her major work experience was at the former Astatic and General Electric.
After her retirement, Caroline volunteered as a pink lady at UH Conneaut Medical Center.
She is survived by her two sons, Philip (Shirley) Kananen of Arizona and Richard Kananen of Conneaut, her brother, Richard (Fran) Metcalf of Michigan and several grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at The United Church of Christ of Conneaut, 211 Buffalo Street, Conneaut with Rev. Joyce Shellhammer and Rev. Stephen Szilagyi officiating.
The Family would like to extend their sincerest thank you to the many, many aides who allowed Caroline to live independently her entire life.
Arrangements are being handled by the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
