Ethel E. Vento, age 89 of Conneaut, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Villa at the Lake.

Ethel was born on April 9, 1925 in Conneaut the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Beno) Palagyi. She grew up on the family farm with her 8 brothers and one sister. Ethel was a 1943 graduate of Rowe High School. She married her husband Frank on June 5, 1948. She loved to dance and travel with Frank to various family gatherings and would often travel to Silver Creek, N.Y. She was also a "Den Mother for the cub scouts and a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed cooking and baking, Ethel was a wonderful cook and cherished the Palagyi and Vento reunions throughout the years. Ethel worked for many years as a bank teller at the former Farmers Bank and Society Bank in downtown Conneaut.

Ethel was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, attending St. Mary Church and a former Catholic Daughters of the Americas member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Vento in 1984, a sister, Anna Yusko, and eight brothers, John, Joseph, George, Andrew, James, Louis, Steve, and Michael Palagyi.

Ethel is survived by her son, Frank and Sharon Vento of Indianapolis, IN, daughters, Sarah "Sally" and Stephen Rhodes, of Conneaut, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Vento of Conneaut and Catherine Vento of Akron, Ohio, four grandchildren, Frank Vento, Kalyn Vento, Emily and Marcus Wacker, Juliann Rhodes and Daniel Bernstein, and four great-grandchildren, Marcus, Holden, Anna and Leo.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 4:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m.at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut, Ohio.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church, 480 State St, Conneaut, 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014, with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut.

Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Parish, 744 Mill St, Conneaut, Ohio 44030. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
