Helen G. Black, age 95 of Conneaut, died Sunday evening, November 16, 2014 at her residence.

Helen was born on February 12, 1919 in Russellton, PA the daughter of John and Anna Hreha. Helen proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharge in December of 1945. She was employed at the formers People Store, Premix and General Electric.

Helen was a member of Corpus Christ Parish, attending Mass at St. Frances Cabrini Church. She was a very active church member years ago, she would work bingo and the church festivals along with cooking for all the priests. She also was known for her pizzelles. She had 23 different varieties of pizzelles and loved buying and receiving scratch off lottery tickets.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman A. Black, whom she married June 1, 1946, a brother, John Hreha, and sisters, Anna Henderson, Pauline Black, Elizabeth Butus, Sue Barchok, and Mary Zakel.

Helen is survived by her sons, Robert and Danielle Black of Bay Village, Ohio, Norman A. Black Jr., of Conneaut and Jack Black of Cincinnati, eight grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Also a brother-in-law William Black, North Kingsville and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited for calling hours to be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Raisian Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mill Street, Conneaut, with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut, where the American Legion Honor Squad will conduct full military services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Helen's memory to St. John High School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or at the school, 7911 Depot St, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
