Joyace Ann Ferl, age 77 of Conneaut, died early Thursday morning, August 21, 2014 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Joyace was born on March 5, 1937 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Ethel (Burlingham) Kovacs. She attended Conneaut High School and later went on to work at the former J. J. Newberry store in downtown Conneaut and she was also a former assistant manager at the Country Fair Convenience Store.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish in Conneaut, former Moose Club member, and 971 TOPS Club. She enjoyed bowling in various women's leagues, crafts, gardening, baking and cooking. She was very proud of her sobriety and attending AA since 2001. Joyace especially cherished the time she spent with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joyace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Ferl, Sr., whom she married April 18, 1963, sisters, Betty Kovacs, Dorothy White and Grace Roberti and her grandson, Mark Ferl.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry and Lori Ferl of Ashtabula, George Jr.and Ann Marie Ferl of Kingsville, a daughter, Kathy Ferl of Atlanta GA, a brother, Frank Kovacs of Conneaut, two step-sons Dennis and Pat Ferl of Monument, CO and Mick and Sherry Ferl of McKinney, TX, eight grandchildren, Jerry Ferl II, Mandy Ferl, the late Mark Ferl, Meg Ferl, Eric Ferl, Randy Ferl, Dee Ferl and Jen Ferl and eight great-grandchildren, Hope, Jerry III, Ryleigh, Jayden, Mark, Patrick, Kaidan and Ciana.
Calling hours will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014, at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut, Ohio.
Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, with Father Philip Miller of Corpus Christi Parish officiating.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashtabula County Nursing Home Residence Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
