Michael W. "Mike" Burdette, age 54 of Conneaut, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Mike was born on April 15, 1959 in Morgantown, WV the son of Theodore Burdette and Wanda Castle. Mike went to work at Colucci's Scrap Yard and then was hired by the City of Conneaut to work at the Water Department. He later moved to the City Streets and Public Works Department where he worked until his early retirement in 2011, following a 25 years career with the City of Conneaut.

Mike was also the President of the Pioneer Picnic grounds in Pierpont for many years. He loved to have picnic and keep the kids coming to the area to gather. He loved to grill and cook for everyone and was the "master" of the deep fryer. Mike loved to hunt and spend time with his family and friends and his dog "Lady Bird".

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ernest and Leonard Burdette and half-sister, Barb Ratcliff.

He is survived by his son, Mike Burdette of Conneaut, daughter, Jennifer Burdette of Conneaut, brothers, John and Pat Burdette of Kingsville, Theodore "Ted" Burdette of Conneaut, Roscoe and Shannon Castle of Kingsville, Jack and Debbie Burdette of West Virginia, half-brother, Tinker and Martha Carpenter of Florida, sisters, Patricia and Charlie Atkins of Kingsville, Mary Ellen Fromknecht and Ted Beatman of Kingsville, and Anna Marie and Erwin Ita of Kingsville; grandchildren, Cody Morales, Kelsey Burdette, Brandon Burdette, Kayla Burdette, Allison Burdette and Jason Stiles, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut, Ohio.

Although Mike has died, his memory shall live on as he has given the sight of his eyes by donation to the Cleveland Eye Bank.
