Wayne Herman Kamppi, Jr., age 65 of Conneaut, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Jefferson Geriatric Center in Jefferson, Ohio.

Wayne was born on January 15, 1949 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of Wayne H. and Leona (Sippola) Kamppi Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Conneaut High School. Wayne then went on to sail the Great Lakes for a short time. He later worked in construction equipment for many years with Victory White as an equipment salesman and later retired from Koski Construction Company as a purchasing agent for the company. Wayne also worked many years as an EMT for Station Three Rescue Squad.

Wayne was a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Conneaut Elks.

Wayne enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He also rode snowmobiles and motorcycles throughout the years and enjoyed spending time at the lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a half-brother, Larry Johnson.

Wayne is survived by his son, Patrick Wayne Kamppi of Conneaut, and half-sister, Joyce Stasko of North Kingsville.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Route 20, North Kingsville, Ohio.

Arrangements are being handled by the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut, Ohio.
